Present: Chairman Ron Bolt, Vice Chairman Ed Boynton, Selectman Marghie Seymour, and Executive Secretary Ceil Stubbings

Seymour made the motion to go into a Nonpublic Session per RSA 91-A:3, II (a) to discuss an issue with the Town Manager’s contract. Boynton seconded the motion. A unanimous roll call vote was taken and the board entered into the nonpublic session at 9:40 AM.

Seymour presented the board with a draft of the revised contract to present to the town manager. The current contract includes a clause that he has to establish a residence here in town. Seymour said that in reviewing the contract it was noted that it gives him a very lucrative severance package and very little accountability. Seymour said they were trying to get more accountability into the contract. Seymour said that the current contract is set up in a way that the town would still have to pay the severance package even if he were in breach of the contract. Seymour talked with Jae Whitelaw and they determined a simple change to the severance clause could make it so that he is more accountable. Seymour went on to say that they were looking at dropping the requirement for him to move here because he has stated that he would not be moving here. The board then took the time to review the draft contract and discussed the proposed changes.
