4.02.04 Rural Purpose: The purpose of the district is to maintain the integrity of rural-oriented activities within Littleton. The regulations of this district are designed to encourage the maintenance of the general rural characteristics of openness, residential uses, limited compatible commercial and industrial uses, appropriate agri-business, forest harvesting, and extensive agricultural and livestock production. Such intent shall be maintained until appropriate community services and demand from adjacent built up areas warrant a change compatible with the master plan.
Rural (Permitted Uses) 1. Accessory buildings or uses incidental to the foregoing principal uses 2. Boarding houses, tourist homes 3. Cemetery 4. Food and produce stands (limited to 300 square feet and selling only food or produce grown on the premises) 5. Funeral home 6. Garage apartment 7. Home occupations listed in Section 8.04 and in compliance with Section 8.03 8. Growth and harvesting forest products (orchard, etc.) 9. Management and disposal of sludge, in conformance with the requirements of NH Code of Administrative Rules Env-Ws 801, 802, 803, 805, 806, 808 & 810 as amended. 10. Open storage of building materials: For individual use on site 11. Open storage of timber and lumber: For individual use on site; For wholesale and/or retail use 12. Organized camps 13. Public parks and playgrounds (five parking spaces for each acre developed) 14. Raising agricultural crops (including the raising of farm animals or livestock) 15. Single family (detached dwelling, including modular homes) 16. Single mobile home (providing it meets with all the requirements of a single family dwelling and is placed on a permanent perimeter masonry foundation with tongue and wheels removed) 17. Temporary or portable structures which are incidental to the construction of the main building and will be removed within six months 18. Travel trailer or motor home (restricted to one to a family and registered) 19. Two family dwelling

Commercial removal of loam, clay, sand, gravel and ledges 9. Day care services 10. Fraternal organizations 11. General service garage 12. Group-care facilities 13. Home occupations not listed in Section 8.04 14. Kennels 15. Mail order business where it qualifies as a home occupation
