Welfare Department

The Welfare Department provides assistance to those that are poor and unable to support themselves in accordance with State law and the Town's Guidelines.  The department has the general powers to make all decisions regarding the granting of assistance under RSA Chapter 165, subject to the overall fiscal responsibility vested in the Welfare Director.

How to Apply:  After having exhaused all other means of meeting your essential needs, ie. if you have applied for any and all programs that could assist you (fuel assistance, food stamps, TANIF, Medicaid, Social Security benefits, subsidized housing, etc.), and you are still in need of financial assistance, complete the application and provide all the documentation required - including proof of any income and expenses by providing receipts, bills, etc.  You will also need to provide a copy of your tax return and a copy of your lease.  This documentation is necessary in order to determinie if you are eligible for Town Assistance.  Applications should be dropped off in person or when you have been scheduled an appointment.

This step is necessary to determine if you are eligible for:

Food Stamps, TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), FAP (Family Assistance Program), NHEP (NH Employment Program), ANB (Aid to Needy Blind), OAA (Old Age Assistance), APTD (Aid to the Permanently & Totally Disabled), Medicaid and Child Care Assistance.
