How to Dispose of Batteries
Proper Battery Disposal
Did you know that fires at recycling facilities are on an uprise because of improper battery disposal? Even if the battery has no apparent charge, they can still be hazardous. Please look below for some basic info on battery disposal.
Please note that if you are unsure of the type of battery just bring it to the facility to have an attendee look at it.
Alkaline – Regular household batteries. Tape terminals and throw in the trash
Lead Acid – Car batteries, UPS batteries, etc. Please give to attendant
Small rechargeable – Includes Ni-Cd, Li-Ion, NiMH. Taper terminals or bag each battery separately. Give to attendant
Button Cell – Tape individually and give to attendant
