Tax Collector

Throughout the State of New Hampshire, the property tax year runs from April 1st to March 31st of every year. The first bill is 1/2 of the year before, the second bill is determined after the Town of Littleton receives the tax rate from the Department of Revenue. The bills are not split evenly. The Town of Littleton sends property tax bills on a semi-annual basis. All original tax bills are mailed directly to the homeowner only. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to know that taxes are due twice a year. If a homeowner does not receive a bill, please call the Tax Collector's Office. The Tax Collector sends the bills to the homeowner and address on record which is based on the assessing data warranted to the Tax Collector from the Board of Selectmen. It is also the homeowner's responsibility to forward a copy of the original bill they receive to their mortgage company if they have their taxes escrowed. Property tax bills are generally mailed in June, due in July and mail again generally in November, due in December of every year.

The sewer bills are generally mailed in April, due in May and mailed again generally in October, due in November. The first bill is from October to March. The second bill is from April to September. The sewer bills are determined on the cubic feet of water from the billing of the water from Littleton Water and Light.

The Town of Littleton accepts monthly payments for property taxes and sewer bills. In 1994, the Town voted to accept pre-payments on property taxes. Pursuant to RSA 76:13 interest shall not be charged until 30 days after the bills are mailed.
